Why does the media perpetuate rape culture by writing stories that victim-blame, sympathize with perpetrators, or question victim credibility? Whether through religious conflict, Indigenous disenfranchisment, historical concealment, or inequitable cultural attitudes towards gender, I’ve studied what shapes the framing of sexual violence stories and the impacts on survivor communities.
